Ridged Lace Shawl


 


SIZE: approx. 60” X 20”

MATERIALS: 400m of lace weight yarn.
3.75mm circular needle
stitch markers .

GAUGE: 18 sts = 4”


DIRECTIONS:
Cast on 7sts. (top neck).
Set up band
Row 1: (right side) K1, yfwd, K1, pm (place marker), K3, pm, K2. (8 sts).
Row 2: (K1, yfwd) twice, sm (slip marker), K3, sm, yfwd, K1, yfwd, K2. (12 sts).
Row 3: (K1, yfwd) twice, knit to marker, sm, K3, sm, knit to last 2 sts. Yfwd, K2. (15 sts).
Row 4: K1, yfwd, K1, purl to marker, sm, k3, sm, purl to last 2 sts. K2. (16 sts).
Row 5: (K1, yfwd)twice, knit to marker, yfwd, sm, K3, sm, yfwd, knit to last 2 sts, yfwd, K2. (21 sts).

Repeat rows 4 and 5 until 51 sts on needle making sure that the markers stay on either side of the centre 3 stitches.

Row 16: (wrong side) K1, yfwd, knit to the end. (52 sts).

Ridged band
Row 1: (right side) (K1, yfwd) twice, knit to marker, yfwd, sm, K3, sm, yfwd, knit to last 2 sts, yfwd, K2. (57sts).
Row 2: K1, yfwd purl to marker, sm, K3, sm, purl to last 2 sts, K2. (58 sts).
Row 3: Repeat Row 1. (63 sts).
Row 4: K1, yfwd, knit to the end. (64 sts).

Repeat these 4 rows once making sure that the markers stay on either side of the centre 3 stitches. . (76 sts).

Stockinette stitch band
Row 1: (right side) (K1, yfwd) twice, knit to marker, yfwd, sm, K3, sm, yfwd, knit to last 2 sts, yfwd, K2. (81 sts).
Row 2: K1, yfwd, purl to marker, sm, K3, sm, purl to last 2 sts, K2. (82 sts).

Repeat these 2 rows 5 times more making sure that the markers stay on either side of the centre 3 stitches. . (112 sts).

Garter stitch band
Row 1: (right side) (K1, yfwd) twice, knit to marker, yfwd, sm, K3, sm, yfwd, knit to last 2 sts, yfwd, K2. (117 sts).
Row 2: K1, yfwd, knit to the end. (118 sts).

Repeat the 2 rows 3 times more making sure that the markers stay on either side of the centre 3 stitches. (136 sts).

Repeat Stockinette stitch band rows twice making sure that the markers stay on either side of the centre 3 stitches. (148 sts).

Lace band
Row 1: (right side) (K1, yfwd) twice. *K2tog, yfwd. Repeat from * to 1 stitch before the marker, K1, yfwd, sm, K3, sm. **yfwd, ssk. Repeat from ** to last 4 sts, (yfwd, K2) twice. (153 sts).
Row 2: K1, yfwd, knit to the end. (154 sts).
Row 3: (K1, yfwd) twice, *K2 tog, yfwd; repeat from * to marker, yfwd, sm, K3, sm, yfwd, ** ssk, yfwd. Repeat from ** to last 4 sts. (yfwd, K2) twice. (159 sts).
Row 4: K1, yfwd, knit to end. (160 sts).

Repeat these 4 rows twice more making sure that the markers stay on either side of the centre 3 stitches. (184 sts).


Repeat any of the band patterns according to your taste to a total of approximately 100 rows.

End with a Garter Stitch Band until there is enough yarn left to cast off.

Cast off VERY LOOSELY.

Block by stretching and pinning to the approx. size (20”x60”) cover with a damp towel and allow to dry over night. Remove the towel in the morning and allow to dry completely.

BAFFLES ACCESSORIES


This simple set of accessories includes directions for  a hat, headband, neck warmer, cowl and infinity scarf.

HAT, HEAD BAND OR NECK WARMER

MATERIALS: 120m Chunky yarn.
8mm double pointed needles OR 16 in. circular OR 32+ in. circular for Magic Loop method.

DIRECTIONS;
LOOSELY cast on 60 stitches.
*First Round: Knit across all stitches then join in the round being careful not to twist the stitches.
Work 9 rounds Purl (right side of work).
Work 9 rounds Knit

Repeat these 18 rounds once more then work 8 rows in purl.

Cast off LOOSELY and weave in all ends. *

NOTE for HAT: BEFORE CASTING OFF STITCHES, leave a 24” tail. Thread tail onto a tapestry needle and thread through each of the stitches, going around the entire row twice. Pull up tightly and secure end. Weave in the cast on end.



COWL OR INFINITY SCARF

Note: Directions below are given for Cowl (store sample) with changes for Infinity Scarf given in (BOLD).

MATERIALS: 150m (300m) Chunky yarn
8mm - 24 in. to 32 in. circular needle.

DIRECTIONS;
LOOSELY cast on 80 stitches, (160 stitches).
Repeat from * to * as given for the HAT HEAD BAND, NECK WARMER pattern above.

Felted Diagonal Purse.

 
 
 

 SIZE: Approx 12”x10” when felted.

MATERIALS: - 2 balls (Approx 200 m) of Noro KUREYON or any felting worsted weight pure wool.
                           6.5mm needle
                          1 set of purse handles.

GAUGE : The purse will be very loosely knit before felting. Gauge is not important for this project.

DIRECTIONS:
Cast on 68 sts.
1st Row: K1, Increase in the next st. Knit to the last 3 sts. K2tog. K1
2nd Row: Purl
Repeat Rows 1&2 until there is 3 yds of yarn left.

Cast off loosely.

With right sides together, sew cast-on edge to cast-off edge then fold in half and sew one of the side seams together to form the bottom of the bag.

Felting instructions: Place bag in a zippered pillow cover and wash in machine using very hot water for wash(add a kettle of boiling water if your hot water heater is set at a low temperature) and cold water for rinse. Add an old pair of sneakers or some towels to help with agitation. When spin cycle is complete remove purse from pillow cover and block to size, pressing out any creases and folding the top edge to the inside 1-1 ½”. (You can return it for another washing following the same directions as above if you want it more felted.) Using strong sewing thread, sew down the folded top edge and attach handles to the inside of the bag and fasten with magnetic snap (available at Michaels.)

e-Reader Cover in all sizes





E-Reader Covers

As the pattern is written, the cover will fit the Original Kobo, Kindle Fire 1st Gen and Kobo Arc with only slight modifications to it’s length (see Table 1). A separate chart for the Kobo mini is also included with cast on modifications for different yarn weights (see Table 2).

Directions:


Using the preferred weight of yarn, cast on the appropriate number of stitches ( DK weight yarn use 52sts, Worsted weight yarn use 46sts, Chunky weight yarn use 38 sts) and join in the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
 
Using the chart below as a guide, (Table 1) knit in stockingette until 25mm (1”) less than the length of your e-reader device.

BO loosely or use a full size larger needle. (Opening needs to be stretchy enough to open full size to slip the e-reader into the cover.)

Best Beginner's Baby Blanket


SIZE: approx. 30” x 30”

MATERIALS:-400g of chunky yarn (or double knitting yarn held double)

6mm circular needle, at least 80cm long.

GAUGE: not essential for the project

DIRECTIONS:
Border:
Cast on 90 stitches.
Knit 9 rows.

Body of the blanket:
Pattern A- Row 1: (Right side) Knit 10, *Purl 10, Knit 10. Repeat from * to the last 10 stitches. Knit 10.
Row 2: Knit 10, Purl 70, Knit 10.
Repeat these 2 rows for a total of 24 rows.

Pattern B- Row 1: (Right side) Knit 10 , * Knit 10, Purl 10. Repeat from * to the last 10 stitches. Knit 10.
Row 2: Knit 10, Purl 70, Knit 10.
Repeat these 2 rows for a total of 24 rows.

Continue alternating patterns A and B until there is approximately 50g of yarn remaining.

Border:
Knit 9 rows.

Cast off loosely.
